LICENSURE:
Paul is a Clinical Psychologist licensed in both Kansas and Missouri.
For many years he has been a Clinical Member of the American Association
of Marriage and Family Therapy and an Approved Supervisor in the
same professional organization.
BACKGROUND:
Paul's baccalaureate degree was in zoology and chemistry from Greenville
College in Illinois. His Masters degree was in School Psychology from St.
Lawrence University and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University
of Kansas.
Paul completed his doctoral internship at Western
Missouri Mental Health Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He continued
on staff at WMMHC for five years before entering private practice
in psychology.
Paul grew up in the Thousand Islands area of Ontario
and migrated to Lawrence for his doctoral studies at KU. He has lived
in Kansas ever since.
AREAS OF INTEREST:
As a psychologist, Paul works with individuals, addressing a broad
range of clinical issues. He also sees couples, families including
adolescents and children above age five. Content areas include
but are not limited to anxiety and depression, anger management,
marriage and family dynamics, premarital counseling, conflict resolution,
separation management, men's issues and forgiveness.
Paul encourages an exploration and understanding
of the spiritual components of the psychological issues. He welcomes
a team approach with church pastors when this would be beneficial
to church members.
PROCESS:
The initial session addresses the current need and relevant history.
Usually psychotherapeutic work will begin immediately as problems
are presented. A partnering, cooperative effort is the goal of
the therapy process.
